tww-hayley-tamaddonFor those who may not be familiar with your work, can you give me a little run down of some of your career highlights so far?
Well I started in theatre at 19 in Fame – the musical. I then did a few other big shows before making the switch to TV. I then landed the role of Delilah Dingle in Emmerdale and then more recently 2 years in Corrie playing Andrea Beckett. Oh – and I won dancing on ice too! πŸ˜‰

You are currently on tour with one of my favourite musicals Chicago! For anyone who may not have seen it before, what is the show about and what attracted you to the part you are playing?
The show is about celebrity, murder, greed and fame, and follows Velma Kelly and Roxie Hart – 2 murderesses battling it out in prison to be the next “star”. It is such an iconic show with the best female leads. I’ve been wanting to play Roxie for 20 years and I still pinch myself that I’m doing it

There are so many great scenes and songs in the show. Do you have a favourite part?
I love doing my monologue and then singing with the boys! Sometimes I get so carried away with the audience, I feel like I’m in someone’s living room telling them a story.

When I saw the show recently in Wimbledon, I was surprised at how many people sitting around me had never seen the show, the film, or even knew what to expect. They were initially just there to see the celebrities. What was amazing was that I heard several of them on the way out of the show discussing how much fun the theatre was and planning what they could go and see next. What musicals would you recommend to new fans of the theatre?
All of them! Go see whatever comes to your local theatre, supporting our theatres is so important. There’s still so much I haven’t seen.

If you could be the opposite sex for the day, what theatre role would you love to have a go at playing?
Haha! I’d be Aladdin. That would be ace!

Can you complete this sentence. People should come and see Chicago because ___________________ the cast are amazingly talented, and we don’t wear many clothes!! Haha!

Thanks for having Tea With Wilma
