It’s not very often you get the chance to see a magic performing Chihuahua being fired out of a cannon and so when I heard Piff the Magic Dragon was bringing Mr Piffles to the Soho Theatre I lept at the chance to go along and see the show.

Piff (also known as John Van der put – Magic Circle’s 2011 Close Up Magician of the Year) takes to the stage and introduces himself as Piff the magic dragon. He tells us we may know his older brother….. Steve! Piff is an adorable,  cheeky chappy dressed in a dinosaur costume, with a sullen look on his face and sucicidal tone to his voice, reminiscent of Jack Dee. His smile and raised eyebrows are enough to make any girl (or boy) weak at the knees!

For an hour he had the crowd in stitches, downstairs at the Soho Theatre. The cabaret style setting was perfect for comedy, using audience members to help him perform card tricks unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. Mr Piffles helped out with some of the tricks, magically disappearing and re-appearing until sadly being laminated by the laminating machine.

Jurassic Bark is a wonderful, funny show that will leave you running for the exit (to have your pictures taken with Piff and Mr Piffles).
