Last night I took my sister to see Come From Away at the Phoenix Theatre in London which just happened to mark the show’s first birthday in the West End.
We booked before it was announced that Rachel Tucker would be leaving the production to join the Broadway version of the show and so I was excited when I heard I would be seeing a new Captain, with Alice Fearn taking on the role of Beverley Bass.
Taking over a role from someone like Rachel Tucker must come with a feeling of having some rather large shoes to fill but Alice doesn’t disappoint.
Come From Away shares the incredible real-life story of the 7,000 air passengers from all over the world who were grounded in Canada during the wake of 9/11, and the small Newfoundland community that invited these ‘come from aways’ into their lives.
If you haven’t seen Come From Away then book your tickets now because it is a wonderful 90 minute musical about a very important part of history – and Alice Fearn is worth the ticket price alone! So even if you’ve seen the show before, maybe it’s time to go back for another ‘gander’.
