The first song “I Say No” from the highly anticipated West End cast recording of Heathers the Musical has been released today (with the rest of the album expected on 1 March 2019).
But one of the stars of the show, Carrie Hope Fletcher, has hit back after her name was singled out and put on the album artwork cover as ‘Heathers the Musical featuring Carrie Hope Fletcher’.
Taking to Instagram she said:
“Expect an artwork change that doesn’t include my name. I had nothing to do with the album except for the singing and when I saw my name on the front for the first time yesterday when it was released on Instagram I was so embarrassed! So I messaged everyone nicely and asked if it could be removed and they’ve very kindly agreed. Heathers had a cast of 18, not 1.”
Carrie Hope Fletcher is a hugely popular Vlogger, Author and Musical Theatre performer and so it is understandable that producers may have thought including her name on the album cover would be beneficial but Carrie has taken a stand, just like her character in the musical and said “no”, which nicely ties in with the name of the song released today!
