The full cast has been announced for the forthcoming new production of THE GO-BETWEEN.
Joining the previously announced Michael Crawford – with the multi Olivier and Tony-award winning star returning to London’s West End to play Leo Colston – will be Issy Van Randwyck. Renowned for her starring role in the celebrated cabaret group Fascinating Aida, Issy will play the role of Mrs Maudsley.
The iconic roles of Ted and Marian, the lovers who embark on a forbidden affair and for whom Leo acts as the go-between, will be taken by Stuart Ward, who played the lead ‘Guy’ in Once in both the UK and USA, and Gemma Sutton, who most recently starred in the hugely-acclaimed production of Gypsy in the West End.
The young Leo Colston will be played in alternation by Luka Green, William Thompson and Johnny Evans Hutchison.
Based on the classic novel by L. P. Hartley and adapted by David Wood, THE GO-BETWEEN is a new musical with a score written by Richard Taylor. The production will begin performances at the Apollo Theatre on Friday 27 May (Press Night: Tuesday 7 June at 7:00pm).

Michael Crawford plays Leo Colston, a man who can no longer hide from the memories of his past. Memories of the gloriously hot summer of 1900 and of his days spent in Norfolk come flooding back. Spending the holidays with the family of his school friend Marcus in their luxuriouscountry home, the young Leo finds himself acting as the go-between for the beautiful upper-class Marian and tenant-farmer Ted who are embroiled in a forbidden love affair. The innocent Leo gets caught up in the adult world of deceit and manipulation as he risks everything in this deeply moving coming of age story. The events of that summer and the devastating effects of love denied will shape his life forever.
THE GO-BETWEEN’s composer/lyricist is Richard Taylor, who most recently composed Flowers For Mrs Harris, the world premiere of which is to be given at Sheffield Crucible Theatre. The production is directed by Roger Haines (The Girls, by Gary Barlow and Tim Firth) having been adapted by David Wood (Olivier Award-winning Goodnight Mister Tom), who is also the co-lyricist.
THE GO-BETWEEN is produced by Greene Light Stage* and Bill Kenwright. This project was originally developed by Perfect Pitch Musicals Ltd. and presented at Royal & Derngate, Northampton, Derby Live and West Yorkshire Playhouse.
