Crisping nicely in Vegas

As I lay here by the pool of the Mandalay Bay hotel in Las Vegas, my heart is still in London, thinking about everything happening there as I look through my Twitter timeline.

Last night I went to see Rock Of Ages at the Venetian hotel. What better show could you see in Vegas than a rock, jukebox musical? It’s a different take on it from the London production. The American accents are perfect (obviously) and the German voices leave a little to be desired. Apparently talking in an American accent and throwing in some z and v sounds every now and then is what German people sound like! I had amazing seats for the show and enjoyed it more than I did in London. The seven minute interval was interesting! A countdown on the clock on stage had everyone dashing around for drinks and trips to the toilet. Somehow most people made it back in time!

I was intrigued to read about the new show Keeler, coming to the Charing Cross Theatre from October 31st. Paul Nicholas play is going head to head with Andrew Lloyd Webbers show Stephen Ward, telling the same story about a sixties scandal. Should be interesting to see how these two shows compare against each other and if seeing both help to build a fuller picture of what really happened.

Despite my being out of the country, the show reviews are still coming in thick and fast from my trusty team of reviewers. Michaela Clement-Hayes, Tony Peters, Alex Foott and Roz Carter are all out and about seeing different shows while I’m away which is a huge help for me!

I have a big announcement coming this weekend! Something very exciting that you will want to know about if you are a theatre fan. It’s something I’ve done a couple of times before, all for charity. This time is going to be bigger and better than ever before and for a really good cause so watch this space!

Any hoo, I’m crisping nicely and so am going to go and scare the children by getting into the pool!
