The Pembury Hotel (Finsbury Park)

Sometimes when I’m in London and looking for a place to stay, it isn’t all about luxury. Sometimes I just need somewhere to sleep that I can get back to easily after a night at the theatre.

The Pembury Hotel, 2 minutes walk from Finsbury Park Station, is close to the West End via tube and also a short walk from the Park Theatre which I was visiting that evening. The hotel is in close proximity to major train stations like Euston and Kings Cross and so is a good place to stay if you are travelling the next morning from one of these stations.

The staff were friendly and the bedroom had everything you would need for a one night stop over. The room was extremely compact. It was quite amusing trying to shower in such a small bathroom and I honestly could have turned on the sink taps and flushed the toilet whilst in the shower. The shower was leaky and you could barely close the bathroom door whilst inside but the shower worked and was hot so it did the required job.

I paid £64 for a double room for one night and so I wasn’t expecting anything grand. There was a lot of noise from outside during the night and the bed wasn’t overly comfortable but it was clean and somewhere to rest my head for the night.

As far as budget hotels go this was adequate and for the price I would happily consider staying there again for one night. Maybe don’t schedule a romantic weekend get away there though!
