There is only one theatre character that I think I would want to live the life of for a day and that is the super stagey, go-getter Momma Rose from Gypsy (currently starring Imelda Staunton at the Savoy Theatre).
Gypsy tells the story of the ultimate pushy mother Momma Rose, who carts her children around the American Vaudeville theatre circuit, putting on shows and trying to make them a headline act. She is trying to make her children stars of the stage, something she was never able to do herself. But can she achieve her goal or will her children turn against her and destroy her dream of fame and fortune?
I’d start my stagey day mingling with the stars at Madame Tussauds, having my photo taken with them all and pretending to all my friends that I actually met them! Then I would make my way to Hollywood just like Momma Rose does in the show. Planet Hollywood at least for a lovely pre-theatre slap up meal!
Watching the diva in action live on stage would then be a must, taking in a performance of Gypsy and dreaming of being up on that stage.
After the show, I’d hot-foot-it over to the swanky Mayfair nightclub ‘Rose’ for a ‘turn’ on the dance floor and a few glasses of champagne (‘Rose’s Turn’ is a song from the show – incase you didn’t get that)!
Then I would crash out into bed!
Fingers crossed my dream will become a reality and I’ll win this competition prize!
