Name: Aaron Sidwell
Name of show: Henry V
Venue: The Barn Theatre Cirencester
Dates of run: Until 22nd June
Can you tell me about the show?
The play tells the story of the reign of King Henry V but focusing mainly on his conquest of France. We have set the play in our current political climate and modern warfare, whilst remain true to the original text of William Shakespeare.
What part do you play in the show and where does it fit in to the story?
I am playing Henry V with a few splashes of Prince Hal (Henry V in Henry IV Part 1&2). While he is the central figure in the play I’m far from that in this production. This is arguably the most ensemble version of Henry V theres ever been!
What’s your favourite part of the whole show and why?
The Second half of our play is pretty much non stop and that as an actor is wonderful so i would have to say that and the executions.
What has been a highlight of your career so far?
Ive been lucky enough to have a few but i would have to say playing Henry V at 30 is gonna be hard to beat!
Who are your biggest inspirations inside and outside of the industry?
My family obviously. My 3 girls are the reason I’m me. Within the industry lots but i wont name and shame.
Do you have any pre-show rituals?
I have to have a shower before every show. Just wash the day away.
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life what would it be?
Impossible answer. That is no way to live life.
What’s so special about this production and why should audiences come to see it?
We’ve fitted an Olivier show into the Dorfman a friend said to me! I think that speaks volumes! Its loud, energetic, passionate, tense and inventive!
