INTERVIEW: Sophie Evans has Tea With Wilma talking about Lord of the Dance: Dangerous Games

Sophie Evans, Tea With Wilma TWWYou were one of my first ever interviews I did back when you were playing Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz. What have you been up to since then?
Quite a lot! I’ve been so lucky to do really cool things. My first job after The Wizard of Oz was the film The World’s End with Simon Pegg, Martin Freeman and Pierce Brosnan. I’ve been touring with various artists and have also made an album – The Studio Sessions!

You are currently playing the role of Erin the Goddess in Lord of the Dance: Dangerous Games at the Playhouse Thestre. For anyone not familiar with the story, what is the show about and what role do you play?
It’s a classic story of good vs evil and it’s also about love. As Erin the Goddess, I get to sing the most beautiful songs and wear gorgeous dresses so I can’t complain!

Do you have any dream stage roles that you would like to have a go at playing?
I would love to be Glinda in Wicked.

If you could be the opposite sex for the day, which male theatre role would you like to play?
Simba in The Lion King

Have you ever had any funny/disastrous on-stage experiences?
I’ve forgotten my lyrics a few times which can be quite funny. I’ve muddled the lyrics to Over the Rainbow which meant was repeatedly singing about skies being blue!

Why should people come and see Lord of the Dance: Dangerous Games?
It’s a spectacle and completely different to anything else in the West End! It has an incredibly talented cast so you need to come and see it!

Thanks for having Tea With Wilma
