Multitude of Drops Theatricals have announced that they will be bringing Off-Broadway musical JOHN & JEN to the Union Theatre in London for a limited run from 12 – 17 September following a successful engagement at the Lantern Theatre in Liverpool earlier this year.
Starring James Lacey as John and Sharon Byatt as Jen, this 21st anniversary production of JOHN & JEN is directed by Sam Donovan with musical direction by George Francis and set & costume design by Sean Gibbons.
Jen and her younger brother John vow to always be there for each other, growing up in 1950s America. When Jen leaves for college before the beginning of the Vietnam War, John is left to fall under the influence of his abusive father and joins the Navy.
This musical explores the relationships between siblings and, later, between a mother and her son, set against the backdrop of a changing America.
With music and book by Tony and Grammy-Award nominated Andrew Lippa (The Addams Family) and lyrics and book by Tom Greenwald, JOHN & JEN was first produced by Goodspeed Opera House (Michael B. Price, Executive Producer) followed by a New York Run in 1995 by The Lamb’s Theatre Co Ltd (Carolyn Rossi Copland, Producing Director).
James Lacey has toured the UK in The Sound of Music, Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5 The Musical, High School Musical 2 and Shrek The Musical. He appeared in Babes in Arms and Patience in London and in Disney’s Live Action movie adaptation of Cinderella.
Sharon Byatt has appeared on tour and in London’s West End in productions including Grand Hotel (Dominion Theatre), Aspects of Love (Prince of Wales Theatre) and The Tommy Cooper Show. She played the roles of Linda, Mrs Lyons and Mrs Johnstone in the West End production of Blood Brothers (Phoenix Theatre).
