Kerry Ellis – Superfan

APRILHelen is a super fan of West End leading lady Kerry Ellis.

She has seen her perform nearly 40 times in shows including We Will Rock You, Anthems, Rent, Wicked, Born Free Concerts, Wildlife Rocks, West End Women, West End Men, The Sound of Musicals and a number of solo shows / concerts. Helen has met Kerry around 30 times, she knows her by name and doesn’t even have to ask for a hug anymore!

Kerry was mentioned more than once in speeches at Helen’s Wedding in September going to prove that she really does deserve her super fan status!

When asked why she loves Kerry so much, Helen said:

“How long have you got?! 😉 Better start with the voice I suppose! She has the most stunningly beautiful voice I have ever heard in my entire life!! I remember being completely floored when I heard her sing No One But You in WWRY in 2001 (to the extent that I had no recollection of the next song Crazy Little Thing Called Love until I saw the show again some years later!) In my opinion she is a league of her own – she is to singing what Meryl Streep is to acting. I love how she can sing any type of song perfectly and I’ve never seen her struggle for a note she just goes for it and hits it effortlessly. I also love how down to earth and lovely she is with her fans, she has time for everyone and always makes you feel like you are the only person in the world when you are talking to her and she is so easy to talk to, there’s no ego there, it’s just like talking to a friend. I still get awestruck in her presence so I regularly have an ‘OMG you’re talking to Kerry Ellis’ moment at this point!! 😉 I also love how she is so completely unaware of how brilliant she is! She is genuinely appreciative of all the support she gets and it is so refreshing that a world class talent can stay so humble. I can’t put into words how much I love to hear her sing it’s just an absolute joy!!”

I bet Helen is super excited with the news that Kerry Ellis will soon join the West End cast of Cats the Musical playing the iconic role of Grizabella! I’m sure she will be seen hanging around the stage door of the Palladium waiting for a hug from her idol.

If you are a Superfan of a theatre performer get in touch. I’d love to hear your story.
