Monday night saw the first ever OfficialTheatre.com bloggers networking event, bringing together over 30 West End Theatre bloggers in one room to eat cheese, talk theatre and learn a few things about Gin!
Congregating in the basement of trendy wine bar Central and Co, we were treated to a Gin tasting masterclass with Martin Millers Gin and then a Gin Cocktail making competition. My team didn’t win (fix) although we did win ‘Best Cocktail Name’ for the geniusly concocted ‘Curious Gincident of the Blog in the Night Time’! I’m not bitter.
The crux of the evening was Official Theatre Editor Rebecca Felgate hosting an ideas session about things we can do as bloggers to work together and support each other. There were some really great suggestions and actions that we all plan to implement as a group.
The brilliant evening was testament to the fact that bloggers are here to stay. We may not be Newspaper Critics (but to be honest would we really want to be?). We are a group of normal people with a passion for the things we write about. And to be able to all come together like this was an amazing step in the future of blogging.
Huge thanks to everyone involved in organising the event. I hope there will be many more to come!
