SIX the Musical was enjoying a successful run at London’s 350 seat Arts Theatre before the pandemic hit.
Once theatre’s were allowed to reopen at a reduced capacity, the show transferred temporarily to the Lyric Theatre which usually holds 957 people and so the government guidelines of playing to only 50% capacity worked well for the show.
SIX opened at the Lyric Theatre on December 5 2020 but was then suspended due to another UK lockdown around Christmas.
Now, with 17 May 2021 looking hopeful as the new date socially-distanced performances can begin again, SIX the Musical were due to perform from 21 May – 22 August at the Lyric Theatre, after which it was due to return to its original home (at fully capacity) the Arts Theatre.
The Arts Theatre have now announced that the Lyric Theatre production has “secured an extension and will no longer be playing at the Arts Theatre”.
David Mamet’s drama OLEANNA will instead go into the Arts Theatre (21 July – 23 October 2021) following a UK Tour.
No official news has been announced about the extension of SIX at the Lyric Theatre but it may stay until Get Up, Stand Up the Bob Marley Musical opens there in October 2021.
