Back in 2013, part of the ceiling of the Apollo Theatre collapsed during a performance of The Curious Incident of the Dog In The Night-Time, injuring around eighty people.
Last night, the same thing happened during a performance of Death of a Salesman at the Piccadilly Theatre. According to reports online, there were signs in the bar before the show, warning of wet floors due to a leak and then shortly after the performance began, audience members in the Upper Circle complained of water dripping from the roof, after which part of the ceiling collapsed. ATG reported the incident on Twitter, saying that five people sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital.
Tonight’s performance has been cancelled but it is not yet know how long the theatre will be closed whilst the incident is dealt with.
