Pam Ann has Tea With Wilma

Pam Ann is the foul mouthed Australian comedian who has been offending Airlines and the people that work on them for years. She is bringing her hilarious act to London’s Leicester Square Theatre from March 26th for a month long run. I caught up with her for a cup of tea and a chat about what we can expect to see from here in London!

For those who may not know you, can you tell me about yourself and your career highlights to date?
I love to work I am a workaholic, I’m a plane geek, I stalk flight attendants and I ‘thank god’ LOVE to travel the world and of course worship at the shrine of black cock! Is that enough about me? My career highlights so far; touring with Cher, receiving a standing ovation in Paris, crewing a private jet for Elton John, creating my TV show and getting it made for the Comedy Channel on Foxtel, selling out The Hammersmith Apollo, performing at the London Palladium and Royal Albert Hall and being hijacked by Sandra Bernhard in my dressing room in NYC.

You are coming to London for a month of shows at the Leicester Square Theatre, in April. What is the show going to be about and what can people expect if they come along?
People can expect to be offended and verbally abused! I don’t fucking know what the show is going to be about LOL I never know what I am doing until 5min before curtain. The show is very improvised so it changes nightly depending on the audience. But I can tell you I have brand new videos, which are my funniest to date. I am still contemplating bringing other characters to the stage but I’m still not sure I want to or not. I never prepared my homework for school, a leopard never changes it’s stripes!

If we asked your friends to describe you in three words, what would they be?
Shy, demure, quiet – they would lie

Your comedy shows can be quite crude. Are you the same in real life as when you are on-stage or do you find the stage allows you to express parts of yourself you can’t usually?
I can be filthy off stage but not so loud about it! Pam Ann definitely can get away with a lot more than I can damn it!

What is your favourite joke to tell? The one that still makes you laugh every time you tell it? (My favourite is too rude to say in this interview but it involves a hippos yawn!)
What’s a Jewish dilemma – FREE PORK!
A Jewish friend told me this and it makes me laugh every time especially when I tell it to the crew from ELAL. Oh and I do love the Hippos Yawn!

What is the funniest thing that has ever happened to you on an aeroplane?
A guy climbed on top of me on a Virgin Australia flight to Sydney and asked me for a cuddle. I knew he was high on Ambien and booze so it made me laugh. I guess some passengers would have freaked out but to be honest I like waking up to a complete stranger asking me for a cuddle. Only on Virgin right! And yes I gave him a cuddle and some…

What was the last theatre show you saw and are there any productions you want to see in London when you are here?
Dame Edna at The London Palladium on my birthday in December. Barry Humphries was one of the reasons I got into this business. Dame Edna inspired the character Pam Ann. If Pam Ann had a mother it would be Dame Edna. Barry Humphries is the original, a pioneer of comedy and a master at improvisation.

Thank you for having Tea With Wilma
