Having been to some of the Royal China Group‘s restaurants in the past, I was excited to check out Thai Silk in Southwark which is just a stones throw from the beautiful new Union Theatre. It prides itself on offering the finest, authentic Thai cuisine and impeccable customer service and I went along to see what it was all about.
Thai Silk’s authentic décor features traditional Thai decorations such as gold Buddha’s, wall art, and an eye-catching Hong (a celestial swan). A lustrous red and gold colour scheme creates an inviting atmosphere.
To ensure that the food at Thai Silk is authentic, around 80% of the native Thai ingredients are shipped directly from Thailand. However where possible the restaurant uses locally sourced ingredients in order to save on food miles.
Guests can indulge in Happy Hour every day from 5pm until 7pm. During this time cocktails are available for £8.50 and a bucket containing five beers is £14.95! In the summer guests can enjoy al fresco dining and drinks surrounded by lush greenery; while during the colder months the large patio eco-friendly halogen heaters will keep guests warm. It is a lovely place to go for a drink before a show or to dance away the hours at night.
There are two karaoke rooms at Thai Silk available for private hire. The King Room offers a sit-down dinner for 16 people or a buffet for 30 people. Meanwhile, the Queen Room can accommodate larger groups of 24 people seated or 40 people for a buffet. The King Room can be booked for a ‘minimum food spend’ of £350, and the Queen Room for £550.
Incredible food, great service and a wonderful vibe, Thai Silk is a hidden gem that is tucked away in Southwark but once you find it, you’re sure to go back time after time.
