The popular counting song, Five Little Monkeys, is brought to life by Baby Panda Theatre at Little Angel Studio. The team that created Dogs Don’t Do Ballet for Little Angel Theatre present their latest production, a show full of puppets, songs and numbers.

It’s Sue the Zookeeper’s first day at work and she has a long list of things to do including putting Little Monkey to bed. Sue needs all the help she can get, Little Monkey is excited because tomorrow is her birthday and she’s expecting lots of presents. As Little Monkey’s friends arrive one by one with their presents and songs, Sue uses household objects to transform into the Doctor, warning “No more monkeys jumping on the bed!”

Andrea Sadler plays Sue the Zookeeper as well as manipulating all the puppets. Her warm manner engaged the children in the audience and carried us along with the story.

The stage is set with enough interesting items to keep children amused as they wait for the show to begin. They can wonder where the monkeys are hiding and why there are five boxes of varying sizes along with a stepladder, a chair and a mop and bucket.

This is an entertaining show for 2 to 5-year-olds. It was developed with early years numeracy experts and this shows; the children were engaged with the storytelling and the music. If you have little people in your life, they will thank you for taking them along.
