Witches be trippin’. Witches be cray. Witches be just nice old ladies who live independently in a woodland retreat.
All too often, I find I get mislead in to seeing shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival because the poster or show title leads me to believe it is about something that it turns out to have very little or no relevance too. Thankfully, Holly Morgan: Is A Witch. Get Her! is exactly what I hoped it would be. An hour of witchy songs and stories of witchcraft throughout the ages.
Joined by her reluctant husband, Tom the Cat, in a black leotard and cat ears, comedian Holly Morgan summons our favourite witches through song (stand up Stevie Nicks!) to put a hex on the patriarchy, one (barely researched) historical anecdote at a time.
Holly Morgan: Is A Witch. Get Her! is a fun hour of comedy, songs and musical impressions (which didn’t really fit with the rest of the show but were enjoyable none the less) along with some interesting facts about witchcraft. If you’re into that kind of thing then this is the show for you. Highly recommended.
