Jon Robyns treads the boards at Curve to celebrate the launch of his new album Musical Directions.
Embarking on his first solo tour, Jon is a familiar face at Curve, having performed in a number of shows here including Sister Act, Legally Blonde and The Wedding Singer. On a larger scale, he is a seasoned West End star and has performed in the likes of Les Misérables, which he’ll soon return to as Jean Valjean.
Performing all the hits from his new album, with particular favourites including Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’s Hushabye Mountain, Billy Joel’s Vienna and a great medley by The Beatles.
He welcomed four guest stars who each exuded brilliance, including Giles Terera, James Nelson, Emma Kingston and Jonathan Hermosa-Lopez.
With a running time of around 2 hours 15 including an interval, it could have done with being a touch shorter and maybe including couple more musical theatre songs (after all, that is what his fans know him for).
All in all though, this was a great night out and hopefully not the last we’ll see of solo tours from Jon Robyns. His album, Musical Directions, is available on all streaming services, and is definitely worth a download!
