REVIEW: SOOZ KEMPNER: MEGA DRIVE (Globe Bar) ★★★★★

Sooz Kempner is a veteran of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and is always on my must-see list each year. This year she returns with her show Megadrive at the Globe Bar, every day at 1pm as part of the Free Fringe; it does not disappoint!

Sooz lands here in Edinburgh supercharged with popularity after recently going viral on Twitter with a hilarious thread about her time in Aiya Napa as a Christina Aguilera tribute act.

Megadrive is an hour’s show of Sooz whizzing us through the video games that had a big impact on her youth and still do today. Along with it we hear some hilarious childhood stories and observations about growing up in the 90s as well as some of her bittersweet landmark career moments and THE BEST Hannibal Lecter impression you will ever see.

The magic of Sooz is that she and her material are so endearing and relatable; her self-deprecating style delivers laugh after laugh. Almost a week after seeing the show I am still chuckling and humming along to various parts of it.

With high energy and good vibes this simply hilarious show is perfect to get your day of Fringe-ing started.
