REVIEW: TINA T’URNER TEA LADY AND FREAKS! (Frankenstein Pub) ★★★★
West End Wilma award nominated comedian Tracey Collins has hit the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this year with her new show Tina T’urner Tea Lady and Freaks!
Already an established character act as Tina T’urner Tea Lady (a homage to a Tina Turner obsessed fan who runs a tea shop), Tracey Collins now brings three new characters to life in this show, alongside the much loved character we all know.
New characters are Fanny Legup, a rather crude Jilly Cooper-esq type, riding an imaginary horse around the stage and getting audience members to crack the whip on her. Ed Cheerup is a loving take on Ed Sheeran and Audrey Heartburn is a downtrodden Audrey Hepburn.
Tina T’urner Tea Lady and Freaks! is a celebration of showbiz and the surreal. Tracey Collins is a natural born comedian and it is great to see new characters being developed. I think there is room for these to come alive on stage even more than they do right now and if you’ve not seen her in action before then I highly recommend checking her out.
