REVIEW: Tom Lucy: Needs to Stop Showing Off in Front of His Friends (Pleasance Courtyard) ★★★★★

Edinburgh is not lacking in comedians. Often I find myself avoiding seeing comedians at the fringe purely because there is too much choice. However, the buzz that precedes Tom Lucy meant I knew he wasn’t one to miss.

Having toured with Jack Whitehall among other big names, Lucy’s comic style is definitely one for the masses. The self-deprecating youth looks comfortable about being uncomfortable on stage, and connects with the audience with quick wit and intelligence. His observational comedy is linked brilliantly by flipping back and forwards between jokes and his polished set will have you creased over. It is rare to see someone so young have the stage presence he does, but it feels as if he has been doing this for decades. He is definitely one to watch and I look forward to seeing his career sky rocket over the next few years. Go online and see when he is coming to a town or a TV screen near you. Not one to miss, and most definitely the best comedian I saw in Edinburgh.
